New Market to remain shut till Eid
The shop owners’ association has decided not to open the New Market in the capital, despite the government’s announcement to open shops and shopping malls in the country from May 10 on a limited scale.
The president of the executive committee of the Dhaka New Market Business Association Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen and General Secretary Mahbubul Haque announced the decision in a joint statement on Friday evening.
They said no market in the New Market area will be open this Eid. Apart from this, the shop owners’ association has also decided not to open Rajdhani, Chandi Chowk, Gawsia and Noor Mansion, Mouchak Market, and Anarkali Market.
Earlier, the authorities decided not to open Jamuna Future Park and Bashundhara City, the two main shopping malls in the capital, before Eid.
