At least 17 workers were run over by a freight train in Aurangabad city of Maharashtra in India on Friday morning. Five others were also injured in the incident.

Local media reported that the accident took place at 5:15 am near Gadhe Jalgaon village in Aurangabad districts of the state.

Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Central Railway Ch. Rakesh said that the workers were walking from Jalna to Bhuvasal, a distance of nearly 170km, to catch a train to return home. On their way, they were exhausted of walking and decided to take rest on the railway tracks. Unfortunately, they had been slept there due to exhaustion and the oil train-tanker moved over them.
