Tigers celebrate Eid in London

Tigers celebrate Eid in London

Bangladesh national team players celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday in London, but their focus was on their next game as they practiced even during the festive day.

Tigers, who have made a brilliant start in the World Cup 2019 by beating South Africa in their opening match on Sunday at Oval, will face New Zealand at the same venue on Wednesday in a day-night encounter.

Bangladesh team players and team management celebrated the Eid as the festival was observed on Tuesday here at the UK. But later in the day, Tigers had a scheduled practice session at the Oval from 6pm local time.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe greeted his countrymen on the occasion and sought their prayers for their success in the current endeavor. He also said, they are focusing on the mission rather than the celebration of the occasion.

“Eid Mubarak to everyone back in our country. I wish your good health and also ask prayer for our team. Actually we are not focusing on Eid celebration this time. We are concentrating on our game and World Cup,” said skipper during the Eid day in London.

Players and team management members took part in the Eid congregation at the Central London mosque at 12pm local time.

But ICC, the authority of the tournament, was cautious about any pre-announcement regarding where the players would offer their Eid prayer.

Recently Bangladesh team luckily escaped from a heinous terrorist attack at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand when they were visiting the country for a bi-lateral series.

The cautious ICC for that reason not even transported the players and team management to the mosque through their usual team bus but used a several microbuses for that purpose.

“It was not possible for us to go to Eid prayer with team bus. ICC arranged different arrangement for us due to security concern,” informed team manager Khaled Mahmud Sujon.

Earlier on Monday, Bangladesh team had a day off from the practice on Monday and they resided at the Park, Plaza Riverside hotel in London.
