Shaheed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman much stronger than living Bangabandhu

Shaheed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman much stronger than living Bangabandhu

The brutal dawn of the history came on the 15th of August, 1975. Through the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding president of Bangladesh, The father of the Nation, the expectation of the Pakistani and US conspirators was restored by the hand of military junta Ziaur Rahman. Not only through killing of Bangabandhu with his family, but a few months later also killing of the four National leaders in the prison by the supporters of the defeated forces of Seventy-one. Yet the demons of the defeated forces of seventy-one are wandering in this independent Bangladesh. Yet the descendants of the treacherous Khandaker Moshtaq are conspiring to disperse the country. We are not just demanding justice for Bangabandhu killers as an ideal child of Bangabandhu, we are demanding justice for those hated Pakistani ghosts who are working to kill the ideology of Bangabandhu.

We have that confidence on our unconditional leader, the Mother of World Humanity, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Those who wanted to lead the country with the ideology of Pakistan after the assassination of Bangabandhu, the descendants or allies will also have to face trial. Only then will the soul of Bangabandhu get peace in the month of mourning.

One thing we want to mention here that almost 38 years later the ex-army men who were directly involved in that killings were punished; but no civilian person has been punished yet. Analysts agree that this was not a mere murder, but a political motive. The political conspiracy is also mentioned briefly in the verdiction. After the assassination of Bangladesh’s founding President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 15th August 1971, the government formed under the Commerce Minister Khandaker Moshtaq Ahmed issued a decree imposing not to prosecute the killers.

After two decades after the Awami League government came to power in 1996, the trial began and in its final ruling, 12 people were sentenced to death. All 12 of those convicted were then middle-class army officers who took part in direct killings and planning. But the fact that the killings had a political purpose and their involvement with the politicians remains unclear after the trial. The two dimensions of the killing, one of it the internal politics and another is the international perspective, have not come up in this trial. The Bangabandhu assassination trial has been carried out in the same way as in the current law of the country over killings.

In 1996 the case filed over the assassination of August15, except the members of the army, three of them including one of the main accused of murder Khostkar Moshtaq Ahmed died whose name was earlier dropped from the case. At the beginning, Sirajul Haque was the main prosecutor of the case. But the current law minister Anisul Haque, son of Sirajul Haque, handled the case during the final death sentence. Many of those convicted in this case have been convicted of conspiracy and murder. Based on the evidence, those involved in the murder and conspiracy have been proven and sentenced

Although the lower court had sentenced to death of 15 people in the year 1998, the appeal of the High Court was hanged for a long time during the BNP-led government and the army-backed caretaker government. Later, the high court upheld the final verdict, leaving the death sentence of 12 people in 2009.  On 28 January 2010, 5 people were executed. Six of those convicted are still living in various countries, including the United States and Canada. One is dead.

After the assassination, there were many others also present from Bakshal and from the cabinet of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the government led by Khandaker Moshtaq. Among them were Mahbube Alam chashi and many others including Taher Uddin Thakur.

Awami League Senior leader Tofail Ahmed says, many may have joined there under pressure. However, the political motives of those involved in the military and civilians were not successful in the end. The domestic and foreign forces that were defeated in the liberation war of 1971, which helped the anti-liberation forces internationally, jointly conspired to kill Bangabandhu so that the independence of Bangladesh would be destroyed. However, Tofail Ahmed believes that those who formed the government and tried to rehabilitate the killers were involved in the aftermath of the August 15 assassination.

Political researcher Mohiuddin Ahmed says that considering the preceding and subsequent circumstances of the August 15 assassination, it is understood that civilian relations are at stake. Many of them had not thought that the day will happen and Sheikh Mujib will be killed with his family. But many were wondering if the change would be made. If you look at the editorial of the next day’s magazine, you could find out that everyone welcomed it. So it is hard to believe that whimsically it was done by some Major and some Soldiers. Subsequently, there was not enough research or investigation into the involvement of politicians with the killings. Although the conspiracy behind the murder case was called a conspiracy, what exactly was the political motive behind it and how the politicians were involved in the conspiracy did not come up in the verdiction.

At the present time, when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman brought Bangladesh on the highway of development, the friends of the defeated conspirators came to the ground to destroy the ideology of Bangabandhu. But we the every non-communal Bangladeshi with the spirit of the War of Liberation believe that these ghost numbers are very small. So they could not get success with conspiracy. Because Shaheed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman much stronger than living Bangabandhu.
