Rupganj people stage demo against fake real estate company Welcare Consortium

Residents of Kayetpara union in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj stage demonstrations and form a human chain on Monday, protesting against land grabbing by fake real estate company Welcare Consortium Ltd.

Locals staged demonstrations and formed a human chain in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district on Monday in protest against the land grabbing by fake real estate company Welcare Consortium Ltd. They held the programme at Kayetpara union parishad ground in Ichhakhali area in the afternoon. Locals alleged that the unscrupulous company, Welcare Consortium Ltd, bought only 3-4 bighas of land under Majina mouza of Kayetpara union.

However, it forcibly grabbed about 500 bighas of land from innocent farmers and started filling the land with sand. The company is harassing the locals by filing false cases if they their voices against the land grabbing. Chairman of Welcare Consortium Ltd Badiuzzaman Mithu, directors Mostafizur Rahman and Gafur Azad are particularly involved in the land grabbing. Aggrieved by its activities, the locals staged demonstrations and formed the human chain against the company.

Valiant freedom fighter Samsul Alam, Advocate Abdul Awal, former Vice-president of central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Hafizur Rahman Sajib, former President of upazila BCL Masum Chowdhury Apu, Altaf Hossain, Ali Azgar and Mozammel Haque Milon among thousands of residents of Kayetpara union took part in the programme. Speakers at the programme said the people will resist this fake company unitedly if it tries to grab land without giving fair prices to farmers.
