A banner of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, which was displayed in front of the Bangladesh Awami League office in the Joypur Switchgate area of ??Lohagara Municipality in Narail, has been torn down. The incident has created anger among local leaders and activists.
According to the complaint, miscreants tore down the banner of late BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, which was displayed in front of the Awami League office in the Joypur Switchgate area sometime after Sehri on Saturday, February 28. However, it is not yet known who was involved in the incident.
Tension has arisen among the leaders and activists of the local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliates over the incident. They condemned the incident and demanded that those involved be brought to justice immediately.
Joint convener of Lohagara Municipality Jubo Dal, Sohel Rana and Joint convener Md. Saiful Islam said, “ Fascism is trying to rise again. We will not let it happen.”
Lohagara Municipal BNP Acting President Mollah Nazrul Islam said, “ I strongly condemn and protest this incident. Those who did such a thing must be identified quickly and brought to justice and exemplary punishment must be ensured.”

Lohagara Upazila BNP Acting President Md. Himayet Hossain said, “The incident is very shameful. Tearing the banner of a three-time former Prime Minister and the chairperson of a large political party means insulting the entire party. We strongly protest this incident and demand the immediate arrest of the culprits.”

In this regard, Lohagara Police Station OC (Investigation) Ajit Kumar Biswas said, “Police have been sent to the scene. The matter will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken after verifying the truth.”
Tension prevails in the political arena in the area over the incident.
