Govt cancels this year’s PEC exam

The government has cancelled this year’s Primary Education Completion (PEC) and equivalent examinations due to the coronavirus outbreak.

"A summary was sent to Prime Minister last week seeking cancellation of this year’s PEC-Ebtedayee examinations, and Prime Minister approved this," state minister for primary and mass education Zakir Hossain said on Tuesday afternoon.

Though the examinations were suspended, but the students would be promoted to Class Six through class evaluation, he also said.

The educational institutions in Bangladesh remained closed since March 17 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
