BB unveils new monetary policy

Bangladesh Bank has announced new monetary policy for financial year 2020-21 aims to recover the pandemic-affected economy and gain government's economic growth target.

In new moneytary policy, target of private sector credit growth was set 14.08 percent keeping that of previous year unchanged.

The central bank unveiled the report of moneytary policy on its website on Wednesday.

Usually Bangladesh Bank announces moneytary policy at press conference but this year the same was published on website.

In written statement, BB governor Fazle Kabir said it was thought that 14.08 percent credit growth in private sector would be adequate in strengthening necessary new investment.

He also said this moneytary policy's main goal is to salvage outbreak-hit economy and achieve government's economic growth target.
