Tenure of National Consensus Commission extended till 15 Oct
The government has extended the tenure of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) until 15 October, with an immediate effect.
A gazette notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid was issued on Monday in this regard.
The tenure of the Consensus Commission, formed through the gazette SRO No-55 Act, 2025, issued on 12 February, has been extended, read the notification.
On 12 February, the government formed a seven-member NCC, led by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, with a view to building a consensus of political parties on the recommendations submitted by six reform commissions.
Ali Riaz, head of the Constitution Reform Commission, is serving as the vice-president of the Consensus Commission.
Other members include M Aiyub Mia, member of the Public Administration Reform Commission; Safar Raj Hossain, head of the Police Administration Reform Commission; Badiul Alam Majumdar, head of the Election System Reform Commission; Justice Emdadul Huq, head of the Judiciary Reform Commission; and Iftekharuzzaman, head of the Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission.
