Tigers dedicate series win to Milestone air crash victims
Bangladesh captain Litton Das dedicated the T20I series win over Pakistan to the children and families affected by the tragic Milestone School & College air crash, stating that the team played with heavy hearts and wanted to give something back to the grieving nation.
“Yesterday, a tragedy happened. We wanted to dedicate this series win to the victims’ families,” Litton said during the post-match presentation, his voice reflecting the sombre mood within the camp.
Reflecting on the match, Litton noted that Bangladesh knew the conditions would not allow for a high-scoring game and emphasised the importance of composure during the middle overs.
“Our team played really well. We needed to bat well in the powerplay, but we couldn't. It was amazing to watch Mahedi and Jaker Ali bat,” Litton said. “It looked like a 130-140 kind of wicket. We knew we could defend that kind of total. We bowled really well in the first 12-15 overs. When the ball was new, it was difficult to bat. We made a few mistakes, dropped a few catches, and that cost us some runs in the middle overs.”
The match saw Jaker Ali earn the Player of the Match award for his calm, fighting knock that revived Bangladesh after an early top-order collapse.
“It was quite difficult after losing early wickets. Mahedi took chances and I tried to support him. This was my plan: to take the game deep and wait for balls in my zone,” Jaker said.
“The bowlers have done well throughout the series, and it was a great game today. Pakistan played hard, but we had the last laugh.”
