Beelia's second annual general meeting was held

The second annual general meeting of Bangladesh Elevator Accelerator and Elevator Importers Association (BEELIA) was held.

This general meeting was held today Saturday (February 11) at the BUET Graduates Club in Banani of the capital.

The proceedings of the meeting became lively with the participation of representatives from all levels of Belia. Md Aminul Islam, managing director of Sigma Lift Company Limited and editor and publisher of Daily Bangladesher Kontha newspaper was present there.

At the end of the meeting, in a joint statement, the president of Beelia Emdadur Rahman and general secretary Sofiul Alam Ujjal said that the importers of this sector are going through various crisis periods in the import of elevators amid domestic and international financial crisis. Depletion of central bank dollar reserves is delaying the opening of LCs and final payment concessions on vertical extension imports.

Beelia's top management also said that the importers are in a situation of dissatisfaction and embarrassment at the customer level as they are unable to open the LC on time even with 100 percent margin. The crisis has been exacerbated by the exclusion of this sector from capital machinery last year.

To accelerate the urbanization process of the Prime Minister, to facilitate the import of vertical extension technology elevators, the businessmen of this sector demanded that this sector be added to the capital machinery sector again.
