![]() JU observes Victory Day with due respect At beginning of the day, on behalf of JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Farzana Islam, JU acting registrar Rahima Kaniz placed a wreath at the central shaheed minar of the university as a mark of deep homage to the martyred Freedom Fighters of 1971. Provost of Sheikh Hasina hall Professor Dr. Bashir Ahmed, provost of Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib hall professor Dr. Mujibur Rahman, officials and employees of the university were president, among others. At the end of the tribute, balloons and pigeons symbolizing peace were flown. Later, on behalf of the university, Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) and provosts of different dormitories paid homage to three million martyrs and freedom fighters of the Great Liberation War by placing floral wreaths at the National Mausoleum around 8.30 am. Meanwhile, the university authorities organized different programme on the campus marking the victory day. At sunrise, the national flag and the university flag were hoisted at the administrative buildings of the university. The declaration of independence of Bangladesh and patriotic songs were broadcast at the Shaheed Minar of the university throughout the day. Liberation war related books, journals, posters and photographs have been displayed at the university's central library on the occasion of Victory Day. Besides, the entire campus has been illuminated with colorful lights marking the day.
