64 die in 24 hours, 3683 new infected

The tally of infections in the country has surged to 1,41,801 after 3683 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the last 24 hours. Besides, 64 more fatalities from the virus have been reported during the time, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 1847. 

DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Tuesday. 

A total of 18,426 samples have been tested at 66 authorised coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 3683 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 1,45,483, she said. 

Meanwhile, 1844 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 59,624, the health official said. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after detection of the first COVID-19 cases. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 10,421,869 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 508,422 while 5,679,581 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
