BNP’s remark on budget is prevaricating: Quader

Terming the BNP’s remark on ‘no advice is taken for budget’ as prevaricate, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said the work that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does for the country has done with the opinion of all.

“The people-oriented and welfare-oriented budget with the highest priority on life and livelihood issues will be raised in the Jatiya Sangsad tomorrow. However, ‘no advice is taken for budget’ – such remarks of the BNP Secretary General are nothing but prevaricate,” he made the remarks while attending the contract signing ceremony Rapid Transit Line-Five and Northern Route through video conference from his official residence in the capital.

Mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina takes any decision with the opinion of all, the Awami League General Secretary further said that she took the decision after discussing with all within the government and the party. “Awami League believes in democracy. Besides, the Awami League is the only party practicing internal democracy,” he added.

The Bridges Minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been taking decisions in the coronavirus crisis with the opinion of experts whenever necessary. Similarly, the views, suggestions, and experiences of economists and party manifestos have been coordinated for a long time before the budget was formulated.

Noting that the situation of the coronavirus outbreak is deteriorating, he said that people in areas where new lockdowns have been imposed have to deal with the situation with patience. “This decision has been taken for the welfare of all. And in the areas where the lockdown is free, if the situation worsens, the government will be forced to lockdown again in the second phase if the rules and regulations are not followed,” said Obaidul Quader.

Calling on all to abide by the hygiene rules from their respective positions, the Bridges Minister said, “Let us all abide by the rules and regulations called by Prime Minister and World Health Organization to prevent the coronavirus.”

With the concerted efforts of all, the situation will be resolved, this is the expectation, he added.

Obaidul Quader said, “The work of Padma Bridge, the highest priority project of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is going on in compliance with hygiene rules. And only 10 spans are left. The Padma Bridge is being implemented under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

Meanwhile, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister expressed regret over the shutdown of the Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry service for a limited time.
