Rain with lightning flashes likely at many places
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Monday predicted that many places of the country are likely to experience rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind in the next 24 hours as of 9:00 am tomorrow.
"Rain or thunder showers accompanied by lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions," said a Met Office release issued this morning.
Meanwhile, a mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Dhaka, Madaripur, Rangamati, Noakhali, Rajshahi, Pabna, Barishal and Patuakhali and it may continue, said the release.
Besides, day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The maximum temperature was recorded yesterday 38.0 degrees Celsius at Jashore and Rajshahi while today’s minimum temperature was 22.4 degrees Celsius at Badalgachhi in Rajshahi division. Maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6:00 am today was recorded 24 millimetres (mm) in Bogura.
The sun sets at 6:36 pm today and rises at 5:14 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
