The Biochemistry and Moleculer Biology department of Jahangirnagar University has installed a lab for testing suspected Covid-19 samples at the laboratory for Biomedical Sciences of the university. Principle investigator of the lab and Professor of Biochemistry and Moleculer Biology department Dr. Sohel Ahmed confirmed that to daily peoples time today. He said, "Our lab is fully ready to render Molecular Diagnostics services for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. The lab is capable of testing around 80-100 suspected Covid-19 samples every day." "We have organized our Lab facilities in three physically separate rooms/places equipped with necessary instruments and resources. We will not collect samples, rather only conduct tests of the samples provided by IEDCR", he added. "The laboratory can start coronavirus testing by using rRTqPCR or Serological techniques, if permission as well as all necessary supports are given by IEDCR/DGHS. We will apply to authorities for getting approval through proper channel", said Dr. Sohel Ahmed.
