Fareast University VC dies of coronavirus
Professor Nazmul Karim Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of Fareast International University (FIU), has died from the novel coronavirus (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un).
He breathed his last at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Thursday while undergoing treatment.
Dhaka University's Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said that Prof Nazmul Karim was a former professor at Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Dhaka University.
He joined the private Fareast University as the VC after his retirement, said Badruzzaman Bhuiyan, Chairman at Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Dhaka University.
DMCH director Brig Gen AKM Nasiruddin said that Prof Nazmul Karim was admitted to the hospital three days ago after he tested positive for the coronavirus. He was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital from the beginning. Earlier, he had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
