"BJP leader demands cancellation of the Ganga treaty with Bangladesh."
|
![]() Speaking to news agency ANI, the BJP MP said, "The decision regarding the Ganga water treaty was a mistake. In 1996, the then Congress government made an error. The Chief Minister of Bihar (Nitish Kumar) has repeatedly pointed this out. The Chief Minister of West Bengal (Mamata Banerjee) opposed the Teesta water-sharing treaty. Even the Chief Minister of Assam (Himanta Biswa Sarma) opposed the flow of Brahmaputra waters into Bangladesh." Nishikant Dubey also expressed concerns about border security with the two neighboring countries, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Alleging links between Pakistan’s terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and Bangladesh's interim government, he said, "Lashkar-e-Taiba is in contact with the interim government of Bangladesh. Therefore, it is necessary to secure India's international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh to prevent terrorist infiltration."
