"Bangladeshi Youth Killed by BSF Firing at Jhenaidah Border"

![]() On Sunday morning (April 27), farmers spotted the body while working in the fields and informed the BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh). The deceased was identified as Obaidul (23), son of Hanif Ali from Madhupur village, near the Jadavpur border of the upazila. He was a farmer by profession. According to his family members, Obaidul went out last night and had not returned home since. They alleged that BSF members shot and killed him. However, Colonel Rafique, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 58 BGB Company, stated that they had received information about a body lying approximately 200 yards inside Indian territory. He mentioned that it was not yet confirmed whether the body was that of a Bangladeshi citizen. Citing BSF sources, he said that Indian police were heading to the site and that the nationality of the deceased would be confirmed after verification. Local residents said they heard gunfire early Sunday morning from the Indian side near Jadavpur village. Later in the morning, villagers approached the border and spotted a body lying on the Indian side. Maheshpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said they were aware of a body lying across the border but could not yet confirm whether it was a Bangladeshi or an Indian citizen. |
