Dr. Kazi Ertaza Hassan celebrated Bangla New Year at Veterans shelter center

Dr. Kazi Ertaza Hassan (CIP), Editor and Publisher of Vorer Pata & The Daily People's Time, Satkhira district Awami League vice-president, Central Subcommittee member of Bangladesh Awami League Industry-Trade, FBCCI Director met with Iftar and good news for elders at Satkhira Veterans shelter Center.

He promised to officially arrange space and build a building for the old age on Thursday (April 14) at 5 pm.

On July 1, 2015, the old age home was established with the slogan 'Giving water to the elderly, food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless, this is the human religion'. At first it was set up on 3 kathas of land behind Satkhira City College but later it was shifted to Magura area of the city due to lack of space. For that old age home of 25 katha land has to pay rent of 15 thousand taka per month.

The old age home has become the address of the helpless elderly in the surrounding areas including Satkhira district. Nazrul Islam is in charge of the care of the old age home. Regarding the old age home, he said that at present the home is being run with the overall cooperation of various social organizations and local dignitaries, which is much less than the need.

He added that at the beginning of Corona, there were 16 elderly people in the old age home. Four of them died. However, 10 more seniors have taken shelter here in Corona period. At present there are 22 people in the old age home.

Talking to the elders, at one point he became overwhelmed with emotion. At that time, he talked to Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Humayun Kabir over his mobile phone and arranged for a permanent place for the old age home and promised to build a building with his own funds.

Convener of Satkhira District Volunteer League Shariful Islam Khan Babu, President of Municipal Youth League Monoar Hossain Anu, Juba League leader Tuhin, Jubayer and others were at present there.
