Hefazat leader Azizul put on 7-day remand

A court in Dhaka has placed Hefazat-e-islam Organising Secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi on a 7-day remand in a case filed over the arson attack in the capital’s Motijheel in 2013.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari passed the order on Monday.

Earlier, Detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a joint drive arrested Azizul. Md Mahbub Alam, Joint Commissioner (DB) of DNP, confirmed the matter on Monday noon.

To be noted, Azizul went missing after a meeting held at Hathazari madrasa on Sunday.
