Legendary actress Kobori hospitalized

Legendary actress Sarah Begum Kobori has been admitted to a hospital in the capital with some complications.

She was admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital on Monday night, sources in the hospital confirmed. 

The sources said the actress-turned-politician suffered from fever this week and complained of body ache.

Then, she gave sample for coronavirus test that came out positive, the sources added.

Kobori received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Sareng Bou (1978). She was elected as a member of parliament from the Narayanganj-4 constituency as a Awami League candidate in 2008 and served until 2014.

She stepped into the field of cinema as an amateur artist at the age of 13. In 1964, she acted in her first film, Sutorang under Subhash Dutta's direction, and coincidentally after 40 years, in 2004, Subhash Dutta acted in the movie Aaina under Kabori's direction.

The actress acted in several films such as Sujon Sokhi and Sareng Bou with Farooque in the 1970s. She also performed with Bulbul Ahmed in Devdas. She acted another important role in Titash Ekti Nadir Naam directed by Ritwik Ghatak, an Indian filmmaker. She also acted in an Urdu film Bahana by Zahir Raihan with co-actor Rahman.

She also worked with several actors including Razzak, Alamgir, Sohel Rana, Ujjal, Wasim, Khan Ataur Rahman, Golam Mustafa, Anwar Hossain and A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman.
