FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim has become the Chairman of D-8 Chamber of Commerce and Industries (D-8 CCI).
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen congratulated Fazle Fahim for taking over the Chairmanship at a virtual ceremony held on Monday ahead of the April 8 summit. He took the responsibility from the President of Turkish Chambers Rifat Hisarc?kl?o?lu.
The D-8 is an organisation for development co-operation among Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
The total GDP of the D-8 Member States is around 4.9% of world GDP and the total population is around 15.3% of world population.
“This is a manifestation of the region’s consumer base for both service and commodities along with its inherent growth potentials. To tap into that, I believe D-8 CCI could play the key role through effective collaboration and partnership with their government sector in addition to their own networking mechanism,” the foreign minister said.
The FBCCI is the apex business body in Bangladesh. Fazle Fahim also holds many posts in different national and international bodies such as Vice-President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industries (SCCI), Vice-President of Confederation of Asia Pacific Chamber of Commerce & Industries (CACCI), Global Advisor of Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council (CWEIC), and Executive Committee Member of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC).
He is a Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League. The organisation’s Chairman, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, congratulated him on his new responsibility.
